Welcome to the first in a five part series, covering all aspects of selecting the best blind type for your room and your personailtiy.

Question 1 - Overall, what are the most important considerations to you?

Cost and keeping within a strict budget

Although all of our blind ranges are sold at great price points the most cost-effective blind solutions for those on a very strict budget are roller blinds, vertical blinds and aluminium venetians.

These blinds can be used in any room. They are practical, versatile and can cover large and small windows alike. They are long lasting and there are plenty of different colours and patterns in these ranges to pick from.

You will certainly find something to suit you in any one of these ranges and you will not feel as if you have opted for a budget option. The quality is high and these blinds will look extremely stylish at any window.

Privacy

The best blinds for privacy are blackout lined roman blinds or blackout rollers. This is because at night when you lower the blinds and have the lights on in your room your silhouette will not be visible through the blackout fabric.

aluminium venetians, real wood and faux wood venetians are also good options for privacy as you cannot see through the material the slats are made from however there will be small holes where the cords that hold the slats together run through. These holes are very small so do not cause any issue with privacy.

Light control

Blinds with slats are the best for light control as you can angle the slats to control the amount of light coming through as well as having the option to fully raise and lower the blinds. If light control is important you consider aluminium venetians, vertical blinds,  real wood and faux wood venetians .

If you are aiming for reducing as much light as possible from getting into your room look at blackout products.  Our blackout lined roman blinds are the best product we stock for maximum light reduction. Other options are perfect fit rollers in a blackout fabric, blackout rollers or blackout verticals. See our blog post on blackout blinds for further information on how to get the best blackout blind for your needs.

Interior design and decoration

If creating a particular look for your home is your key factor make sure you get free samples so that you get the best colour for your requirements. See our blog post on interior design looks, which outlines all blind types we think best suit which style of home décor.

Your level of DIY skill and the tools available to you

If you are not DIY confident and do not have access to a tool kit and drills then we would suggest you look at our Perfect Fit blind ranges. These are suitable for UPVC double glazed windows only, but they require absolutely no drilling or tools to install.

Adhering to fire regulations

We have a number of fire retardant fabrics in our vertical and roller as well as our blackout vertical and blackout roller ranges. You can go to these ranges and filter the products there to just show the fire retardant fabrics.

Child safety

All of our blinds come with child safety devices to keep them as safe as possible. However our Perfect Fit (roller, venetian, pleated and wood) blind ranges are designed to be inherently child safe. These are designed for UPVC windows only.

If you have a different window type then you can look at spring loaded roller blinds or a wand controlled vertical which are also both designed to be inherently child safe as they have no cords or chains.
