All real wood and faux wood venetians are made with cords running through the slats. These hold the slats together and angle the slats.

Tapes are an additional decorative extra. Whilst the tapes are mainly for decorative purposes, they also do cover some of the cord holds punched through the slats too. Ultimately the choice to have tape or cord is a personal one. It usually depends on how you are used to seeing venetians as to what will look right to you on your venetian blind.

If you are unsure here are some factors to consider when making your decision.

  1. Taped blinds are slightly more expensive. If you are working to a strict budget you may opt for cords only to keep your costs as low as possible. You can see prices for your sizes with and without tape on our website so you can work out which is the best option for your personal budget.
  2. If you have previously had venetians with tapes and you liked them you will most likely find that you will feel a corded only blind does not look correct to you so you may want to stick with tapes due to this.
  3. If you have pets or young children or are installing your faux wood blinds in a kitchen or bathroom area (do not use real woods in a kitchen/bathroom) you may find Corded blinds a better option as tapes are not easy to clean should they get grubby. You can only spot clean them should they get stained. You may in this situation either opt for a darker tape colour or a Corded blind.
  4. The look you are going for with your décor. If you are trying to recreate a look you have seen elsewhere you may find that tapes are a must have to complete the look.
  5. If it is for your own home or a work environment/ rented property. For a home environment you may opt for tape but for a work or rental property you may find a corded option longer lasting as it is difficult to clean tapes once they get dirty.

In relation to the samples you have ordered we do not send out tape samples at the same time as your slatting samples. The tape colours are not interchangeable between the ranges. Having lots of tape and slatting samples arriving altogether gets confusing as to which tape samples correspond with which slatting samples. The best way forward is to select one or two slatting colours you like best from your slatting samples and then contact us to send out the corresponding tape samples.
